From Abbeville District. Fall of 1776, enlisted under Capt. Robert Anderson. Then, served under Capt. James Pettigrew (his uncle), Maj. Michael Dickson (Little River District Regiment). Early 1778, served under Capt. James McCall, Col. Andrew Pickens (Lower District Regiment). Dec. 1779, served under Capt. William Harris (Little River District Regiment). Fall of 1780, in GA unit. May 1781, served under Lt. Col. James McCall (Upper Ninety-Six District Regiment). Frequently a Sergeant, and once an Adjutant. Served until 1782.
