1780, a Private under Capt. Edward Clanton, attached to Col. Benjamin Seawell (Franklin County Regiment). Marched to Camden, SC, at Cheraw Hills learned of Gates's Defeat, went to Ramsey's Mill then to the Yadkin River. 1781, a Private under Capt. Jordan Harris and Col. James Read in the newly-created NC Light Horse Regiment. Badly wounded at the battle of Guilford Court House.
