Benjamin Cleveland (Wilkes County Regiment). 1781, a Private under Capt. John Beverly (Wilkes County Regiment), attached to Col. Francis Locke (Rowan County Regiment). A Slave that was promised his freedom to substitute for his master in the first tour. He re-enlisted after he was freed.
