Started on the Cherokee Expedition, forced to turn back due to the lack of wagons and pack horses. 1778, moved to SC, joined there. 1781, back in NC. 1781, a Private under Lt. Col. James Dougan (Randolph County Regiment). 1782, a Private under Lt. Col. William Gholson (Chatham County Regiment). Born on 12/10/1756 in Lunenburg County, VA. aka James Harden.
