1778-1779, a Private under Capt. William Jamieson and Lt. Col. Archibald Lytle (a Continental officer) in the New Levies for nine months. 1780, a Private under Capt. William Gwinn (Guilford County Regiment), attached to Lt. Col. Thomas Farmer (Orange County Regiment). He claims to have been with Capt. Jamieson in 1776 at battle of Fort Moultrie, SC - but, no record that Capt. Jamieson joined prior to 1778.
