From Marlboro County. Either 1779 or 1780, enlisted under BG Isaac Huger. 1781 or 1782, served under Capt. Peter Larew, Lt. Col. Peter Horry (SC 4th Regiment of State Dragoons). Also served under Capt. William Henderson, Col. Pinckney (?).
