A Private under Lt. Manlove Tarrant then Capt. James Gee. Then under Capt. John Ingles. POW at the Fall of Charleston (SC), held 18 months, exchanged at Jamestown, VA. Sent to Hillsborough, captured by Col. David Fanning, sent to Wilmington then back to Charleston where he was a POW again for another year - exchanged just before the British evacuated Charleston. Then under Capt. Clement Hall until peace was announced. Discharged at Edenton, NC. From Camden County, NC. Born 12/4/1758. S39225.
