Biography

Sept. 1775, a Private under Capt. George Davidson, Lt. Col. Alexander Martin for 12 months. After serving six months, he hired a substitute for the remainder. Lived in Rowan County. 1776, a Private under Capt. Jacob Nichols and Col. Francis Locke. 1776-1777, a Private under Capt. David Caldwell, Lt. Col. John Peasley, and Col. Francis Locke in the 2nd Battalion of Volunteers. Unit disbanded on 4/10/1777. 1780, a Lieutenant and a Captain. Sep. 1780, a Private again under Capt. John Reid and Col. William Richardson Davie in the newly-created NC State Cavalry-Western District. 1781, back to Captain. S7482.
