1780, a Private under Capt. Nathan Mayo, attached to Col. Benjamin Seawell (Franklin County Regiment). Lived in Halifax County. Marched towards the battle of Camden, SC, learned of Gates's Defeat, then ordered to help Col. Thomas Sumter (SC), learned of his defeat at Fishing Creek, went to Salisbury, then chased by the British to Shallow Ford. 1780, also a Private under Capt. Richard Cooper and Col. Whitmel Hill (Martin County Regiment). 1781, a Private under Capt. James Evans and Col. Whitmell Hill (Martin County Regiment). A free man of color. aka Mark Murry.
