Biography

8/4/1777, a 2nd Lieutenant under Capt. Charles Motte. 2/24/1778, a 1st Lieutenant under Capt. Thomas Shubrick (SC 5th Regiment). Transferred to Capt. Thomas Dunbar (SC 2nd Regiment). Resigned 1/20/1780. Somehow captured and imprisoned by Lt. Col. Nisbet Balfour in Charlestown, which he soon escaped from. Reenlisted after the Fall of Charleston under Col. Richard Richardson, Jr. (Berkeley County Regiment), became a Captain in 1781.
