Biography

Was a Lieutenant. 1776-1781, a Captain of Mounted Riflemen under Col. Francis Locke. Wounded at the battle of Ramseur's Mill. Spring of 1780, attached to Col. Andrew Hampton (Rutherford County Regiment). POW at the Fall of Charleston, SC, paroled. Aug. 1780, attached to Lt. Col. Robert Lanier (Surry County Regiment) at the battle of Camden, SC. Wounded at the battle of Cowpens, SC while attached to Maj. Joseph McDowell (Burke County Regiment). Resigned in Feb. 1781 after being severely wounded by British Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton's men.
